Leiden has mixed luck for Orissa girls

Orissa darling Padmini Rout (Orissa, India) went down to Poland International Master Michal Luch in the fifth round of the Leiden International Open Chess Tournament at Leiden in the Netherlands today. World sub-junior and Asia junior girls` champion Padmini, who has secured three points so far, earlier posted wins in the third and fourth rounds against Dutch opponents Joop Bakker and Jan Van Overdam respectively. She meets Niels Van Splunter, another Dutch opponent, in the sixth round. Padmini’s fellow Orissa WIM Kiran Manisha Mohanty (3), however, posted win, defeating Noordkamp Wouter (Holland). In her previous two rounds, Kiran beat Nicky Law (Holland) in the third but lost to IM Aleksander H Wohl (Australia) in the next. In the sixth round, she meets Michael Kubbenga (Holland).
